Faial Island is located in the central group of the Azores in the Atlantic Ocean. Separated from Pico Island for about 8km, it offers a diverse range of places and activities not to be missed!
including the Viewpoint of Espalamaca - where you can see the whole city of Horta and also the islands of Pico and São Jorge, which form the so-called ‘’Triangle islands’ together with Faial.
You can also visit the marina of Horta, one of the busiest and most famous marinas in the world and Peter Café Sport, a very famous bar in the world of sailors.
In Faial you can also observe the whaling culture, especially in Peter Café Sport’s museum and in the ancient whale factory of Porto Pim.
For nature lovers, they must visit the botanical garden with several plants of an immeasurable beauty. The Monte da Guia, which is classified as Special Protection Area, has a fantastic view over the city of Horta and the bay of Porto Pim.
Two of the most interesting points of the island are the volcanoes “Capelinhos” and “Caldeira”
The volcano Capelinhos and its lighthouse and interpretive center are very famous and of a rare beauty.
The Caldeira - in the center of Faial, with a volcanic cone of 400 meters deep is classified as a natural reserve and home to rare species of the endemic flora of the archipelago.
